Family

A few months back I set a goal to get my photos off my CF cards and out of my desk drawers. I wanted to  display them somewhere where we could enjoy them.  During this process, I came across a bunch of cards that contained photos from our family vacations in North Carolina.

This is an annual trip we do every fall. We are coming up on our 7th year and hands down this is my favorite family getaway.  We pile in the car and drive11 hours to Asheville, NC. It is my reset button to get me through the end of the year.

I have 6 amazing years of photos to remember these days. Where are they displayed? Well, with the exception of a few images that I used here and there for holiday cards, most never saw the light of day. This summer I began sorting through each card and was overwhelmed with how many images I had accumulated and how would I decide which ones to print?

I settled upon making a book for each year. The end result was priceless. Through the pictures I could see how present we were on those trips and the images reflected the true personalities of each family member.  Most of the time I am sneaky and taking pictures from the side, but there are some posed ones. I also like to include images of bits and pieces of where we are and what we are doing. I love being able to tell the story with the camera.

Family sessions don't have to been a perfectly posed, color coordinating event. You can always do something more relaxed that relates to your family.  That is the beauty of lifestyle photography. I enjoy photographing families swimming or playing on the beach, or just at home in the back yard.  What ever you choose, let those pictures be a reminder of each year of family bliss.

Baby Andi

Baby Andi arrived early last month.  I had just met the family a few weeks prior to the big event.  They  decided to do a maternity / family session before this little ones arrival.

Fast forward to a few weeks later and this Dad could not have been prouder to show off his beautiful girls. There is Amber, Aubrey & now Andi.  He affectionately calls them his "A Team".

Newborns are so sweet and innocent.  I love everything from those tiny toes to the precious full body, baby yawns.  I adore sessions that just organically unfold.
